Is Your Business Ready for
Malaysia's New PDPA Rules?

Two new obligations are already law. Most Malaysian SMEs don't know if they qualify — or if they're already non-compliant.

What Changed in 2025

Mandatory DPO Appointment
If you handle data of 20,000+ individuals, you must appoint a Data Protection Officer — registered with PDPD within 21 days.
72-Hour Breach Notification
A significant breach must be reported to the Commissioner within 72 hours. Affected individuals notified within 7 days.
Already In Force
These rules took effect 1 June 2025. Malaysia's PDPD modelled enforcement on Singapore's PDPC. The question is whether you're covered.
